More than one H1 on a page: good or bad?

I searched “h1” tags and found a video by Google software engineer Matt Cutts that recommends using h1 tags sparingly, and use it logically if you use it in multiple sections on the same page. Don’t over use it and use CSS to make it look like normal test. If the CSS gets turned off or doesn’t load — your page will look bad.

Here’s the video:

A good SEO practice is to have keywords in the h1 line and also use the same keywords in the test that follows.
